In This Section¶
- Hardware Setup - Complete guide for setting up GL.iNet routers and physical infrastructure
Supported Hardware¶
GL.iNet Routers¶
Waveshift uses GL.iNet routers as site hubs to connect physical locations to the cloud platform. These routers provide:
- WireGuard VPN - Secure site-to-cloud connectivity
- Device Discovery - Automatic detection of local network devices
- Remote Management - Configure and monitor via
wavectl - Dual WAN - Primary and backup internet connections
Recommended Models¶
- GL-AXT1800 (Slate AX) - Recommended for most deployments
- GL-MT3000 (Beryl AX) - Compact option for smaller sites
- GL-X3000 (Spitz AX) - 5G cellular connectivity option
Setup Process¶
- Physical Installation - Mount and connect router hardware
- Initial Configuration - Access router web interface
- Network Configuration - Set up WAN and LAN settings
- VPN Configuration - Use
wavectl configure-hubto set up WireGuard - Testing - Verify connectivity and device discovery
Common Tasks¶
Initial Setup¶
Configure a new GL.iNet router for use as a Waveshift site hub.
Firmware Updates¶
Keep router firmware up to date for security and features.
Troubleshooting¶
Diagnose and resolve connectivity issues.
Network Optimization¶
Optimize router settings for your specific environment.
Prerequisites¶
Before setting up hardware:
- Deployed Waveshift infrastructure
