Hardware

Documentation for setting up and configuring physical hardware for Waveshift.

In This Section

  • Hardware Setup - Complete guide for setting up GL.iNet routers and physical infrastructure

Supported Hardware

GL.iNet Routers

Waveshift uses GL.iNet routers as site hubs to connect physical locations to the cloud platform. These routers provide:

  • WireGuard VPN - Secure site-to-cloud connectivity
  • Device Discovery - Automatic detection of local network devices
  • Remote Management - Configure and monitor via wavectl
  • Dual WAN - Primary and backup internet connections
  • GL-AXT1800 (Slate AX) - Recommended for most deployments
  • GL-MT3000 (Beryl AX) - Compact option for smaller sites
  • GL-X3000 (Spitz AX) - 5G cellular connectivity option

Setup Process

  1. Physical Installation - Mount and connect router hardware
  2. Initial Configuration - Access router web interface
  3. Network Configuration - Set up WAN and LAN settings
  4. VPN Configuration - Use wavectl configure-hub to set up WireGuard
  5. Testing - Verify connectivity and device discovery
